We Don’t so They Don’t

15 Reasons why adults don’t meditate and then don’t teach their kids…and so stress stays and grows for everyone:

  1. Was not taught how to “meditate”

  2. Don’t have friends who do it

  3. “I can’t concentrate” (even those with poor attention span can “meditate” for two minutes)

  4. Seems and feels weird – Can’t envision being looked at while doing it (even if alone) – simply put…gotta get over it.

  5. “No time” (Yes you do! Way more than you think…that may work with our gym excuses, lol.)

  6. Doesn’t fully understand what “meditation” is and believe it is large, encompassing and time consuming

  7. Don’t get paid for it…and we are busy

  8. Not cultural (Imagine if it were for you? Why not use something, from somewhere else, that works…that would be like saying, “I’m not taking that cure for cancer because it was made in Antartica. We must take the best of all that is known if we want to be the best.)

  9. “Never seen a payoff from it” (even though only did it once or twice)

  10. “I do other things” (there is no replacement for the direct benefits, btw. Exercise is great & different, we need both)

  11. Dismissal of well-known healing techniques (that have been used for hundreds of years)

  12. Healing Sound Bowls seem funny and child-like (they really work, you may fall in love with them)

  13. “Too busy working, still”

  14. Lack of attention to healing tools “hidden” in plain site

  15. Not taught. “Meditation” can be used as an amazing tool for rest, self-healing, lifting emotions, stress relief, support when dealing with bad news and so much more.

Call to Action and Positively CHANGE Your Story! Here is how, made simple:

Find “meditation” music from YouTube.

Imagine a place you have been in nature that you love.

Take two minutes of your life to find your breath, experience relaxation and the joy of re-visiting a place you love. Before you know it, two minutes will turn in to ten. You can even find a minute at work to do this (yes, a minute) whenever you need a lift. Talk about a great tool that is within our reach, as a professional, as a human being. If you did this for 7 days in a row, at 2 minutes a pop, by the end of the week you have invested less than 15 minutes…in a week. You can do it, watch it positively impact your life and grow into much more. If you have kids, imagine the gift you will teach them, which they can take everywhere, for their entire lives…like you.

Much Love,

Dave
