The recent tragedies and unexplainable deaths of students at a high school near me has crushed the larger community and individuals like me. The pain for the parents is unimaginable and I am so sorry they, and any parents have to experience this. My grandparents and uncle have experienced the deaths of their own children, so this not so distant for me. This recent situation, my daily personal spiritual growth, and some other continuing educational work recently inspired my thinking on this topic for today. Our sadness is worth less if we don’t learn from it and remember the positives people bring to this earth while they are here.
Our belief about reincarnation really is the axis which determines how we see life and death and how we grieve. Either you believe in it or not. There is no “kind of reincarnated,” just like there is no “kind of pregnant.” That said, it is amazing how many people are convinced they know…yet have no way to know.
What if you said, for arguments sake, that we will experience reincarnation? How would that change the way you lived/viewed your life, your death, the death of loved ones and those around us.
If we are reincarnated, what would be the reason?
If we are coming back, does that mean we didn’t get it right in this lifetime and we are here to learn and do better next time, or the time after that?
How would it change the way you thought about your individual purpose?
How would it change the way you thought about others and how their death fits in to their overall journey?
Would you fear death as much knowing that you would be coming back?
How does this change the way you view time?
How does this view the way you see tragedy?
How would it change the amount of time you spent grieving?
How would it change the way you grieved?
How would it change the way you lived your daily life and sought your life goals?
How does this belief change the way you want to live; now?
I think these are interesting questions that aren’t asked very often and issues we don’t like to think about. And, yet, it is the reflection on this subject which inspires us to live a greater life, for ourselves, our loved ones, and those around us. It inspires us to do what we want with our time here. The thought of coming back because we have to learn something encourages us to do what we can in this lifetime to move the greater envelope of our existence, forward…now. Why push off the spiritual lessons until the next lifetime unless reaching enlightenment, at some point in the future, is not important. Decoded = most of us want to be the best version of ourselves. I say, the sooner the better.
Have a great week and live life to the fullest!
Much love,
Dave
