How and when do we “reward” ourselves. That moment when we feel like we earned something, whether it was food, candy, a cigarette, a drink, whatever…that quick moment in time where you exhale after something that was emotionally or physically draining. What do we reach for that isn’t good for us as we tell ourselves we earned it? This is a very small window in time to address our weakness, where we either give in and go for it or we catch ourselves and say, “yea I want it, “earned it”, but it isn’t good for me right now I’ll put it down.”
Here are some things to consider when doing that good self talk:
Remind yourself you are working hard to not do the habit
Build a reward system that makes sense within your diet or day
Acknowledge when you have these feelings so they become more apparent
Give yourself a reminder about who else is benefitting from your good decision making
Tell yourself that you are being a better version of yourself
