Really, That Many!?!

The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) says that almost 60% of new manages say they never received any training when they transitioned into their first leadership role. Here are some of the reasons why organizations are still doing this incorrectly:

  • They are making too much money to stop and care

  • They are making too much money and have other priorities

  • They have other priorities

  • There is no history of it being done so why bother

  • “Don’t rock the boat and ask for something right when you start”

  • Resources: Money and Time or Both

  • No one designated to set up new-hire training

  • Someone who did it before for the organization retired

  • There is not enough risk or ‘pain’

  • They figure they hire smart people who can figure it out

What other reasons do you think organizations don’t train new managers?
