Pick a Word, (Another) Word?!

It was great to see how many people really enjoyed my note last week on this subject. I’m hoping that you chose a word and had time to think about it, use it and enjoy it for what it is supposed to provide. But what if you didn’t? What if you chose the wrong word and now you are thinking to yourself, I’m stuck with this dang word all year! No, you are not! Change it (go slowly.) Work with it. Maybe you have to try out a few words before you actually commit to the word. It is something that is intended to be important in your life, so change your mind. This is not like giving up on a resolution, it is about finding a word that has the overall frequency to match yours and where you are going at this point on your journey. [If you like your chosen word for the year, how do you foresee using it to help yourself and others?]

Some may think, “of course you can change your word.” What I want to ensure is that you don’t say, “this word stinks, I’m not using it” and then drop the concept all together. Feeling any frustration on finding your word is quite possibly a test for you to see if you really care about it or not. Your word will be far more fulfilling when you land on it through some trial an error, if that is what you are experiencing.

What else in our lives can we change gears on this 2022? How can avoid the noise, stop following things that don’t matter to our wellness, stop chasing stuff that will not fill a void and get more honest with our self-growth. Whether you like (or remember) Michael Jackson or not, his message about starting with the ‘Man in the Mirror’ was on point. As an aside, if we think we don’t need to work on anything, ask the top 5 people who care about you what they think. This is not risky, it’s an opportunity. It’s not risky because you are willing to hear truth and want the chance to grow…and because these people care about you now and always will.

I’m not changing my word, but if I did, maybe I would choose ‘Mirror.’

All my best,

Much love,

Dave
