People are leaving and being forced out in droves. Professionals are moving to new states and this has a direct impact on business succession and retention challenges. Here are 10 important considerations when thinking about how to address this pandemic created scenario:

  1. Trust is the #1 reason people stay or go…with their direct supervisor and then colleagues

  2. Respect, recognition and validation are “perks” that are valued more than other perks

  3. Identify top performers and ensure they are supported

  4. Facilitate an internal discussion with representative voices at all levels

  5. Keep retention and succession planning a top priority

  6. Be sure to act on any surveys or focus group findings or you will just kick the beehive!

  7. Make conflict management and wellness priorities

  8. Identify what technology can do better than humans and vice versa…then fill jobs

  9. Look to identify new leadership potential

  10. Focus on building HPTs – High Performance Teams

People will come and go...and everyone is replaceable…but the best of us are not replaceable when we are at our best.

Much love,

Dave
