Organizations, companies, non-profits, schools, the military…all of them have challenges, “pains” that usually need to get fixed so that overall conditions don’t get worse. Consider it a pain, almost like a physical pain. Use these 25 questions to help understand the “pains” you might be experiencing at your job. Use the answers to help setup an action plan for moving forward to gain more success as you grow your High Performance Teams and improve your overall “product”

  1. What is your pain?

  2. Who is your pain?

  3. How does your pain show up?

  4. What has your pain done to you?

  5. How has this pain impacted others?

  6. Who knows about your pain?

  7. When did you pain start?

  8. Did you tell others about your pain?

  9. How much does your pain cost in time, money, resources, turnover, productivity and morale? (www.conflictcalculator.com is a free resource)

  10. What are the symptoms of your pain?

  11. What are the short and long term effects of this untreated pain?

  12. Did your pain ever go away, even temporarily? How? Why?

  13. What have you done to address your pain?

  14. Who else cares about your pain and why?

  15. Who cares if you heal your pain and why?

  16. What’s in it for others to have this pain taken care of now?

  17. Does anyone else feed into the pain?

  18. Who has had a similar pain and what did they do?

  19. What is the impact of this pain at work?

  20. What is the impact of this pain at home?

  21. What is the impact of this pain on my physical health?

  22. What is the impact on my emotional well-being?

  23. What is the impact on my spiritual domain?

  24. Who feels a sense of “ownership” of the pain and wants to take action?

  25. What will happen if I don’t fix this pain?

Hopefully these questions can create discussion…”if we can name it, we can change it.” Give people an opportunity to be heard but answer the questions yourself, about your challenge, to get grounded in the situation.

Much love,

Dave
