Stress levels are off the chart for many. In this case when I say many, let’s think of our kids as well. Here are ways you can model and teach stress management to your kids or youth you may teach or coach. In fact when we teach them we are getting constant reminders to take care of ourselves as well. “Put on your own oxygen mask first” yet be quick to help the younger generation so they can suffer less. Here are 20 ways you can help/teach stress management concepts:
Modeling…we must model healthy stress management habits so we can align our behavior with the lesson. It is important to do, discuss and teach the importance of making time for regular exercise, meditation, and taking breaks when needed.
Encourage open communication about stress: Be pro-active in encouraging them to communicate openly about their feelings and emotions, which can help reduce stress and anxiety.
Teach deep breathing exercises and guided imagery which are easy ways people of all ages can manage stress and anxiety.
Realistic Expectations: Taking their individuality, unique abilities and limitations into deep consideration.
Parents can create a calming environment in the home by playing soothing music, using aromatherapy, and keeping the home clean and clutter-free.
Teach time management (and Energy Management): Learning time management skills can help children avoid feeling overwhelmed and stressed…learning to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed.
Making time for regular exercise is the way to reduce stress and anxiety for everyone!

Limit screen and Social Media time!
