Doesn’t even matter if you hate soccer (football)…watching what Argentina did was the epitome “next-level resiliency.” Having not lost an international match for 37 games they came into the world cup and LOST in their first game to a team that on paper had no chance of winning. What did they do? Rally. Rally. Rally. The looked at each other and used it as an example of the pain that teaches you instantly. For them to come back through the tourney and not lose another game…to go up in the finals by two goals only to get complacent and have to win in in Penalty Kicks…amazing!
[For the record, I predicted a 3-3 draw with Argentina winning in PKs and Messi shining…just had to say that since no other announcer I saw predicted this…wish I had gone to Vegas! Mbappe fans were pleased at the first ever hat trick for a player and it was by far the best finals in the history of the game.]
Messi. On the backs of arguably the best player of all time (Ronaldo has a legitimate argument with that) Argentina showed what it means to get you’re A$$ kicked and then do everything to make it work out in the end. If you watched the game you saw an intensity for much of the game that screamed “we are willing to give it all.” So, we can learn a great deal from this team and these players. Here are 15 great ways to build and sustain a “Next-Level Resiliency Mindset:”
Associate the struggle with a higher cause or meaning
From the Heart – What is your intention and level of care?
Levels of Intensity – You dictate the pace of your actions
Sense of urgency (and knowing when to slow down or back off)
Remind yourself of historical resiliency (you beat these kind of challenges in your life before)
Vision – Imagine yourself already in victory with your desired outcomes already happening
Limit outside distractions (of all kinds)
Risk – Nothing great ever happened without it
Support – Tap into others who can help or offer encouragement and positivity
Heal – Work on intrapersonal obstacles that get in the way of different aspects of life
Purpose – Check in with it and stay grounded
Presence – Try not to worry about what hasn’t happened in the future (and may not)
Patience – Remember that people are not on your timeline for desired outcomes
Ownership – Realize that other people do not really want what you want…it’s on you!
Peace - “Make peace with the worst case scenario and then you can strive towards the outcomes you want with freedom in your heart”
As we all build our resiliency, hopefully these are new or great reminders to help you on your path.
All the best and much love!
Dave
