Like deep belly, side-splitting, face-hurting laughter. We need it! Sometimes we are just grasping for straws. As we move into the fall and winter seasons many of us anticipate things will continue to get more difficult for 2023 and the start of the new year. People, families, and organizations are going to feel/see struggle as we find ourselves moving to seemingly dangerous waters.
With that, finding one of the only basic remedies for the frustrations that can add up in our lives is humor. Laughter. I know we all need more of it. Now we must go looking for it the way we would go to a pharmacy to pick up a prescription.
Be more active in finding humor, making humor, or creating the circumstances for humor to be more readily available in your life. Here are 17 things to consider to laugh more often!
Create a Comedy Night using YouTube or other media
Visit a Comedy Club – there must be one near you close by within 30 minutes. Maybe.
Call an old friend or family member and recall a funny story.
Find a board game that is centered on laughing (whip cream to the face, lol)
Call friends/ loved ones and remind them about an embarrassing story (self-deprecating)
Some find animal videos very refreshing, same with puppies, penguins and babies.
Attend Live Comedy Shows by a celebrity or have one brought into the workplace!
Create a Funny Pinterest Board: Collect humorous pins for quick laughs.
Consider an improv group or watching the show “Whose Line is it Anyway.”
Exchange jokes with friends and family or on social media
Follow comedians on social media for daily doses of humor from someone you find funny in your own privacy.
Collect funny memes in themes and revisit them often depending on your mood.
Host a theme-based, dress-up day with friends or family or work colleagues.
Story time: sharing is caring (gather people around for funny stories of the past)
Participate in laughter yoga classes or do it on your own…yes, they actually have it!
Read funny books or watch TV: Find books or comics that make you laugh out loud.
Listen to comedy podcasts
Laughter, right now, is paramount for all of us even when it doesn’t want to come up naturally! We must often create funny moments, not wait around for them to happen to us…like almost everything else in life. Wishing you all the best and much love, Dave
