It’s Just a Logo? Maybe Not!

Johnson and Johnson are redoing their logo. HUUUUGE changes. No, just kidding, lol. They just changed the type font. But, it must have been important to someone because they have been using the old font for the last 130 years! Logos have a lot of meaning, not just to the customers that recognize it in the marketplace and think of differentiating factors. One group of people that significantly identifies with the logo are the actual employees of the company or organization…you!

So what does it impact for employees when their company decides to change something as “little” as a logo? If you are into marketing or want to know 17 significant ways professionals are impacted when their own company changes logos...

  1. The logo can inspire members of the workforce to be competitive and shine in their positions.

  2. It may represent the company's promise to have diversity and inclusion in the office.

  3. Staff may see the logo as a indicator of recognition for their hard work and impact.

  4. It represents the company's role in the local, state, national or global community, fostering a greater sense of responsibility with employees.

  5. It could symbolize the corporation's commitment to ecological and social accountability

  6. There might be historical significance, reminding employees of the company's heritage and longevity (J&J had 130 years of history behind their logo).

  7. It reflects the organization’s core values that employees can associate with short and long term.

  8. A symbol of trust that workers have in the firm.

  9. Commitment: Employees see the logo as a commitment to their success and well-being.

  10. It may symbolize the organization’s dedication to improvement and inspiration.

Signs and symbols are a part of culture, always have been and always will be. Taking the time to consider how something as small as a logo change can inspire us to be more thoughtful, prepared and mindful when making any kind of changes, whether in the home or at work…makes everyone more likely to get on board with the new plan, whatever it may be.

Wishing you all the best and much love!

Dave
